Ravens getting healthier as OTAs conclude

With still one week until the mandatory team minicamp — and almost two months until training camp — some of the Ravens' injuries are starting to heal.

Ninth-year center Jeremy Zuttah has been a full participant in both of the team's open organized team activities (May 26 and Tuesday), having recovered from a torn pectoral he suffered last November. Zuttah started the Ravens' first nine games last season — giving him 65 straight starts — before undergoing surgery on the pectoral in November and missing the rest of the year.

"Before OTAs started, it was a while — longest I've ever been probably without playing football," Zuttah said. "So [I'm] getting back out there, trying to knock the dust off."

While quarterback Joe Flacco has not played during OTAs, coach John Harbaugh said Flacco is progressing and should still be ready for the start of training camp. Running back Trent Richardson, who is competing for a roster spot, returned to the field Tuesday after suffering a hamstring injury that sidelined him for the first open OTA.

Rookie defensive end Bronson Kaufusi, however, remains out with a back injury he suffered during rookie minicamp.

Harbaugh said Tuesday that Kaufusi, a third-round pick out of BYU, will certainly be back for training camp but is not likely to be back in time for minicamp next week.

"And they told us that when it happened," Harbaugh said. "He wrenched his back, for lack of a better term."
