The Ravens have released their initial depth chart, which provides an estimation of the players' current standing.
It didn't include any surprises based on what's been going on at practice.
The Ravens have Pro Bowl nose tackle Haloti Ngata lined up as the first-team left defensive tackle at Arthur Jones' vacated spot. Ngata has lined up at this position throughout training camp since Jones signed a $33 million contract with the Indianapolis Colts in March. Because Ngata showed up for camp in better shape and is more mobile than previous years when he was noticeably heavier, he appears to be well-suited to play there.
Plus, Brandon Williams is the first-team nose tackle. Williams, who can bench press 550 pounds, provides a stout presence at 6-foot-1, 335 pounds.
Rookie first-round draft pick C.J. Mosley is the starting weak-side inside linebacker ahead of Arthur Brown next to veteran middle linebacker Daryl Smith. Mosley has displayed soundsinstincts, excellent speed and range and is regarded as the real deal by the Ravens' coaching staff and personnel department. Brown is expected to get plenty of playing time.
Newcomer Darian Stewart is the starting free safety ahead of special-teams ace Jeromy Miles and rookie third-round draft pick Terrence Brooks. The Ravens are fairly comfortable with Stewart, who has a reputation as a hitter and, so far, has avoided the hamstring problems that have plagued him in the past.
Other new starters include Steve Smith at one wide receiver spot ahead of Jacoby Jones, Rick Wagner at offensive tackle ahead of Jah Reid, Jeremy Zuttah at center ahead of Gino Gradkowski, Kyle Juszczyk at fullback and Matt Elam at strong safety after playing fres safety as a rookie.
The starting offense: LWR Torrey Smith, RWR Steve Smith, LT Eugene Monroe, LG Kelechi Osemele, C Jeremy Zuttah, RG Marshal Yanda, RT Rick Wagner, TE Dennis Pitta, QB Joe Flacco, FB Jyle Juszczyk, RB Ray Rice
The backups: LWR Marlon Brown, RWR Jacoby Jones, LT James Hurst, LG A.Q. Shipley, C Gino Gradkowski, RG Ryan Jensen, RT Jah Reid, TE Owen Daniels, QB Tyrod Taylor, FB Shaun Chapas, RB Bernard Pierce.
