Defensive coordinator Dean Pees reaffirmed that $50 million cornerback Lardarius Webb is healthy and ready heading into the Ravens' season opener Thursday night against the Denver Broncos.
Webb tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee last October against the Dallas Cowboys with Dr. James Andrews repairing the damage.
Webb has had a speedy recovery, returning for the Ravens' third preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.
"I think he's absolutely ready to go," Pees said. "I think he's ready to play. He's done a great job of rehabbing. Teryl Austin has done a really good job as our secondary coach of kind of bringing him back not too fast.
"We didn't really kill him at the beginning of camp. We just kind of brought him along slowly and each time gained a little more each week. I think our staff did a really good job of getting him ready. I'd say, yeah, absolutely he's ready."
Webb reacted well to contact against the Panthers even though he didn't break on the football as quickly as before, which was expected.
He's looking for improvement, though.
"I felt great," Webb said. "Just the way I look, I have to improve on some things, get used to some things, feeling out routes. I'm coming along fine. I can't wait to get back to work."
The Ravens face a stiff challenge from the Broncos' wide receivers.
