The Ravens deactivated a few surprises for Sunday's home game against the Dallas Cowboys, including starting left guard Ramon Harewood.
Harewood had started the first five contests, but he appeared to struggle slightly in his last two outings. The Sun reported Friday that Harewood would be replaced in the starting lineup by Bobbie Williams.
The team also elected to sideline kick returner Deonte Thompson. The undrafted rookie ranked 13th in the NFL in kick return average (25.9 yards), but he did lose a fumble in Sunday's 9-6 win against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Wide receiver Jacoby Jones could be asked to add kick return duties to his plate, which already includes punt returns.
The Ravens deactivated offensive tackle Jah Reid (strained right calf), outside linebacker Sergio Kindle, defensive tackle Bryan Hall, rookie cornerback Asa Jackson and rookie defensive end DeAngelo Tyson.
The Cowboys will play without starting outside linebacker Anthony Spencer, who did not practice all week because of a strained pectoral. Dallas outlets reported late Friday that defensive coordinator Rob Ryan said he did not expect Spencer – who ranked second on the team with two tackles and was tied with outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware for the lead with nine quarterback pressures – to return for several weeks.
Victor Butler is slated to start for Spencer.
Dallas also deactivated punter Brian Moorman, who strained his right groin before Wednesday's practice. Chris Jones is expected to punt for the first time since spraining his left knee in the team's Week 3 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
