Ravens offensive tackle Ramon Harewood is appealing his $8,000 fine from the NFL stemming from an illegal block on St. Louis Rams rookie defensive tackle Michael Brockers.
Harewood wasn't penalized for his cut block, which caused Brockers to suffer a right high ankle sprain that may sideline him for a few games. However, the league office thought otherwise after reviewing video of the play.
"I did nothing wrong," Harewood said. "I watched the play over and over. I even asked [Pro Bowl defensive tackle] Haloti Ngata if he would call that and he said, 'No.'" I'm appealing it. It's a lot of money. They better take off the whole fine."
Harewood dove at Brockers' right leg while the first-round draft pick was moving away from him toward the play.
"He had his hands down trying to play the cut," Harewood said. "My hat was across him. He saw the cut coming. I know I wasn't wrong."
