Although the latest forecasts had called for rain to hold off until later tonight, rain is now falling steadily at Heinz Field hours before kickoff.
The Pittsburgh Steelers' stadium crew had a large tarp covering the field prior to Saturday night's AFC wild-card playoff game against the Ravens.
It's currently 43 degrees in the Pittsburgh region and it has been raining throughout the day. The Weather Channel had predicted showers after midnight.
Heinz Field has a natural grass surface and annually draws low ratings in stadium surveys because of its sloppy conditions, particularly late in the season because it's also used by the University of Pittsburgh and for high school state championships.
Players didn't have any noticeable problems with their footing during warmup drills.
