Another day of practice on Thursday began without Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.

Flacco, who sat out Wednesday's session because of a right shoulder injury, was nowhere to be found during the portion of practice open to the media. A second consecutive absence might be alarming for some players, but coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday that Flacco would not have to practice to play in Sunday's game against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Seven other starters who missed Wednesday's session were not there Thursday -- outside linebackers Terrell Suggs (left biceps) and Elvis Dumervil (foot), return specialist Devin Hester Sr. (thigh), inside linebacker C.J. Mosley (hamstring), wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. (ankle), cornerback Shareece Wright (pulled hamstring), and right guard Marshal Yanda (shoulder).

Cornerback Jerraud Powers, who did not practice on Wednesday because of a groin injury sustained in the second quarter of Sunday's 27-23 loss to the New York Giants, returned on Thursday.

Cornerback Jimmy Smith (concussion) appeared without the red, noncontact mesh jersey that he wore over his uniform on Wednesday. But several minutes later, trainer Mark Smith walked over with the red jersey, and Jimmy Smith put it on.

Wide receiver Breshad Perriman wore the red jersey for the second consecutive day, but wide receiver Mike Wallace practiced without it.

Rookie left tackle Ronnie Stanley (foot) also practiced. The sixth overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, who has sat out three straight games, participated fully in Wednesday's session.

Per the injury report Thursday, eight players sat out their second consecutive day of practice.

Jimmy Smith was limited for the second straight day and Powers (groin) was limited in his return Thursday. Joining them in limited participation were wide receiver Kamar Aiken (thigh) and free safety Kendrick Lewis (thigh).

Stanley practiced fully for the second consecutive day. The sixth overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, who has sat out three straight contests, also participated fully in Wednesday's session.

Four Jets starters who did not practice on Wednesday participated in Thursday's session. Left tackle Ryan Clady (shoulder), center Nick Mangold (knee) and defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson (ankle) were limited. Cornerback Buster Skrine (non-injury reason) practiced fully.

Defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson did not participate due to non-injury reasons.

Two starters in running back Matt Forte (knee) and inside linebacker David Harris (hamstring) were upgraded from limited to full participation. Defensive lineman Steve McLendon (back) and right guard Brian Winters (knee) practiced fully for the second consecutive day.
