The New England Patriots have signed veteran cornerback Tarell Brown to a one-year contract, according to a league source.

Brown visited the Patriots twice this offseason.

Although the Ravens displayed some interest in the former Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers starter, sources say they didn't actively pursue Brown.

The Ravens feel good about their cornerback position, which is led by starters Jimmy Smith and Lardarius Webb. Smith and Webb battled injuries last season, but are healthy now.

Smith was signed to a $48 million contract extension this offseason, and Webb restructured his contract.

The Ravens also bolstered their depth by signing veterans Kyle Arrington and Cassius Vaughn this spring.

Brown, 30, was still available for this late in the offseason primarily for health-related reasons. He played through a broken foot last season with the Raiders, starting 14 games and recording 55 tackles, no interceptions and four passes defended.

Brown played last season in Oakland under a one-year, $3.5 million contract.
