The Ravens have made it official, announcing their three-year deal with veteran defensive lineman Chris Canty.
Canty signed a three-year, $8 million contract, which includes a $2 million signing bonus, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.
The Ravens also announced the previously reported deal for offensive lineman Ramon Harewood, a one-year contract, and running back Damien Berry signing his exclusive-rights one-year tender.
A former New York Giants starter, Canty is a 6-foot-7, 317-pounder who had taken visits to the Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans. He has 297 career tackles with 19 sacks.
"Chris is a good player and an upgrade for our defense," Ravems general manager Ozzie Newsome said. "We've seen that in our study, and he has also played very well against us. We like the fact that he is coming from a winning franchise that recently won the Super Bowl with his help. Plus, he can help us at both end and tackle.
"John [Harbaugh] and I met with him for a while last night, and we especially liked the enthusiasm he showed to be a Raven. It's good to add a quality player and person like Chris to our roster."
