The Ravens' injury-riddled secondary remains an issue heading into third preseason game tonight at M&T Bank Stadium against the Washington Redskins

The Ravens will be without top cornerbacks Jimmy Smith (chest contusion, lungs), Lardarius Webb (lower back) and Asa Jackson (sprained ankle).

Dominique Franks and Chykie Brown will start in their place and face a challenging matchup against Redskins wide receivers DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Santana Moss. Franks was beaten for a touchdown by Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant last week.

Plus, tight end Owen Daniels is out for the second consecutive game with unspecified leg soreness that coach John Harbaugh has repeatedly said isn't an injury.

Offensive linemen Jah Reid and Will Rackley are out with concussions, and rookie offensive tackle Brett Van Sloten is out for at least a few weeks with a sprained medial collateral ligament.

Fullback Shaun Chapas is out with an undisclosed injury.

And nose tackle Terrence Cody (hip surgery) remains on the physically unable to perform list.

Meanwhile, backup running back Bernard Pierce is expected to start and took the carries with the first-team offense.

The Ravens are making preparations since three-time Pro Bowl running back Ray Rice is about to serve a two-game suspension for violating the  NFL personal-conduct policy. The punishment stems from Rice's felony aggravated assault case from his arrest in February for a domestic violence case involving his then-fiancee, whom he later married.
