Outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil has quiet 2016 debut in Ravens' loss to Raiders

Outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil's debut in 2016 did not unfold as he would have liked.

Dumervil, who sat out the first three games because of a foot problem related to offseason surgery, was active for the first time in the Ravens' 28-27 loss to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. He made his first appearance on the third play of the game. But aside from a pressure or two, he was not much of a factor, collecting zero sacks and tackles.

"I've got a long way to go," Dumervil said. "I felt rusty, but I'm going to keep working, and we'll get it going."

It was a quiet beginning, but perhaps not unexpected, considering that Dumervil is 32 and trying to shake off some rust. Dumervil was on the field for obvious passiing situations, while Albert McClellan made his fourth consecutive start at SAM linebacker, which is Dumervil's usual spot.

Perhaps the most positive development is that Dumervil did not seem to suffer a setback, which could mean more snaps and more contributions when the Washington Redskins visit M&T Bank Stadium next Sunday.

"For the most part, it's good," Dumervil said. "So we'll see how it feels tomorrow. But I've got to keep going and keep chopping."
