While Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco did not practice on Wednesday morning, the New York Jets could be making a quarterback switch of their own.
The Jets, who play the Ravens Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., are expected to bench Ryan Fitzpatrick in favor of Geno Smith, according to ESPN.
Rumors of the move intensified when Smith replaced Fitzpatrick in the fourth quarter of Monday night's 28-3 loss at the Arizona Cardinals. Fitzpatrick, who got into a prolonged contract dispute with New York before agreeing to a one-year, $12 million deal in late July, has thrown just five touchdowns while being intercepted 11 times.
Smith, a second-round pick in 2013, has thrown for 27 touchdowns and 36 interceptions in his career. He started in 29 games in his first two seasons before Fitzpatrick took over last season.
