The Ravens won't put out an official list of inactives tonight before their preseason finale against the St. Louis Rams, but most of their starters will not play.
Quarterback Joe Flacco, running back Ray Rice, center Matt Birk, linebackers Ray Lewis and Jameel McClain and safeties Ed Reed and Bernard Pollard are on the lengthy list of Ravens' starters who are not expected to suit up tonight.
Not only does head coach John Harbaugh not want to risk any injuries to starters with the Sept. 10 season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals looming, he wants to further evaluate the organization's younger players. The Ravens will have to cut down their roster from 75 to 53 by tomorrow night at 9 p.m.
Tyrod Taylor is expected to start for the Ravens. Rookies Courtney Upshaw and Kelechi Osemele will likely see significant action. Some starters who are still trying to get acclimated to new roles, like outside linebacker Paul Kruger, are expected to play for the Ravens.
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher has said that his starters will play into the third quarter so it will be a good test for the Ravens' reserves.
