Mike Preston on Harbaugh's decision to go for touchdown on 4th and 1

Head coach John Harbaugh is taking some criticism for going for it on a fourth and one at the New York Giants 1-yard line on the first play in the fourth quarter. Actually, I agree with him going for it, but I don't agree with the play called.

At that point, the Ravens were down 17-13 and gave very little indication they could stop the Giants, so the Ravens had to go for the touchdown. They needed more points than a field goal could provide. But they can't run running back Terrance West around the left end.

That was a terrible call.

West isn't an east and west type of runner. A better play would have been to crash him inside the tackles, particularly behind left tackle Alex Lewis, who was the only Ravens offensive lineman getting any push Sunday.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — For one week, John Harbaugh's decision to replace offensive coordinator

I'm not sure what Harbaugh's logic was on the call or the play. But I wouldn't be surprised if Harbaugh went for it because he has boxed himself in with all of this "we will be aggressive" talk all season.

One other thing: Fullback Kyle Juszczyk blew the block that might have sprung West.

The Ravens had four plays of at least 20 yards in their 27-23 loss after entering the game with just 11 in the first five games under Marc Trestman.
