Maryland wide receiver Deon Long is participating in the Redskins and Ravens' local prospect day, according to sources.
Long ran the 40-yard dash in 4.53 to 4.58 seconds at the Terps' Pro Day workout before 30 NFL teams, including New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick and director of player personnel Nick Caserio. Long ran a 4.51 at the NFL scouting combine.
Long has drawn interest from several teams, including the Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers. Long bench pressed 225 pounds 13 times and had a 34 1/2 inch vertical leap.
Long attended four colleges, going to West Virginia, New Mexico and Iowa Western Junior College before completing his career with the Terps.
A Washington native who played at Dunbar, Long increased awareness about his skills during the East-West Shrine all-star game after catching 51 passes for 575 yards and two touchdowns last season.
The 6-foot, 192-pounder caught 100 passes at Iowa Western as a junior college All-American for 1,625 yards and 25 touchdowns.
Long was a second-team All-Mountain West Conference selection at New Mexico playing for Maryland offensive coordinator Mike Locksley, catching 47 passes for 809 yards and four touchdowns.
A former All-DCIAA conference selection at Dunbar in Washington, D.C., Long has been graded as a middle-round to later-round draft prospect.
"He's got good quickness, good ability to make something happen after the catch," Maryland coach Randy Edsall said. "He's a guy that understands concepts, understands what you're trying to do offensively."
