Maryland tight end Matt Furstenburg has reached an agreement to join the Ravens.
After going undrafted, Furstenburg quickly chose the Ravens over the Carolina Panthers after receiving a call from coach John Harbaugh.
"It's awesome. I'm excited," Furstenburg said in a telephone interview. "It's pretty great. I talked to John Harbaugh and I thought it was a good fit and a good tight end situation."
Furstenburg was graded as a late-round draft target or a priority free agent.
He ran an impressive 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine with a 4.62 clocking for the second-fastest time among the tight ends. The New Jersey native caught 16 passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns in his senior year and was the lone Terrapin invited to the combine.
Furstenburg played in the Texas versus the Nation all-star game.
Meanwhile, the Ravens also agreed to a free agent deal with West Virginia offensive lineman Jeff Braun. Braun attended Winters Mill.
The Ravens have also reached agreements with the following undrafted free agent rookies: Penn outside linebacker-defensive end Brandon Copeland (Gilman), Louisiana Tech running back Ray Holley, Tennessee State offensive tackle Rogers Gaines, Troy defensive back Brynden Trawick, Towson wide receiver Gerrard Sheppard (McDonogh), Mississippi tight end Murphy Holloway, Army quarterback-athlete Trent Steelman, Southeastern Louisiana quarterback Nathan Stanley, Utah cornerback Moe Lee, Florida International defensive back Jose Cheeseborough, Midwestern State offensive tackle Joe Unga and Memphis offensive lineman Jordan Devey.
The Ravens have invited Towson quarterback Grant Enders to try out as well as Pitt quarterback Tino Sunseri, Virginia Union cornerback Andre Kates and Notre Dame wide receiver Robbie Toma.
Elon tight end Chris Harris has also been invited to minicamp for a tryout.
Gardner-Webb offensive lineman Steve Demilio has been invited to the Ravens' rookie minicamp next week on a tryout basis. He took part in an NFL regional combine at team headquarters, but was snubbed for the NFL super regional combine in Dallas.
Demilio participated in the Ravens' local prospects day.
"I'm super excited, it's unreal," Demilio told The Baltimore Sun. "I was bummed after the regional combine when I didn't get the invite to the super regional. I guess the Ravens' scouting department and coaches saw something in me that the guys running the super regional may not have seen.
"The Ravens thought I was worth bringing in. It's exciting. It's gratifying and reassuring. You get nervous. You wait for the phone to ring and then you're so excited when it finally does."
Former Maryland defensive tackle A.J. Francis is signing with the Miami Dolphins, according to Francis and Maryland coach Randy Edsall. Terps linebacker Darin Drakeford reached a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, Edsall tweeted Sunday.
Old Dominion defensive tackle Chris Burnette (Gilman) is signing with the Miami Dolphins.
Syracuse wide receiver Alec Lemon (Arundel) is joining the Houston Texans.
