With 109 yards and a touchdown on 32 carries, Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch joined the Jacksonville Jaguars' Maurice Jones-Drew as the only two tailbacks to rush for 100 yards against the Ravens this season.
And like Jones-Drew, Lynch helped his team score an upset of the Ravens. On Sunday, the Seahawks stunned the Ravens, 22-17.
"It wasn't me to be honest," said Lynch, who amassed 135 yards and one touchdown on 23 attempts against the Dallas Cowboys the previous Sunday. "The goal for every game is to run the ball. That's pretty much why they wanted [assistant head coach and offensive line coach Tom] Cable to come here. He just took his time with us, up front and the running backs. We go hand-in-hand to get that thing going and now it seems like we're understanding what it is he wants and how the run game should look."
While Seattle fed Lynch – whose longest run of the game was eight yards – early and often, the Ravens handed the ball off just five times to Ray Rice, who gained a season-low 27 yards.
"How many attempts did he have?" outside linebacker Terrell Suggs asked of Lynch. "Give a guy the ball enough, inch it out. You're definitely going to get there somehow. But, yeah, he had a good game."
