Keenan Reynolds will continue his transition from a college quarterback into an NFL wide receiver on the Ravens' practice squad.

A day after the Ravens cut him as they trimmed their roster to 53 players, the former Navy star cleared waivers and signed with the team as part of its 10-man practice squad.

The Ravens picked Reynolds in the sixth round, believing he could help them as a slot receiver and in the return game. Reynolds struggled during training camp and caught just one ball for two yards in four preseason games. However, the Ravens believe he still has upside and will benefit from more time to make the transition.

Reynolds will be joined on the practice squad by running back Stephen Houston, tight end Daniel Brown, offensive tackle Blaine Clausell, center Matt Skura, outside linebackers Brennen Beyer and Patrick Onwuasor and defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore. The team can still add two more players to its practice squad.

All of the above-mentioned players were waived Saturday.

The Ravens wanted to re-sign Jeremy Butler, their leading receiver this preseason who was waived Saturday, but Butler opted to accept a spot on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' practice squad. Undrafted rookie pass rusher Victor Ochi, also cut Saturday, signed with the New York Jets' practice squad.

The Ravens were not awarded any waiver claims. Two players they let go were picked up elsewhere. Safety Terrence Brooks, the Ravens' third-round pick in 2014, was claimed by the Philadelphia Eagles. Inside linebacker Arthur Brown, a second-round selection in 2013, was claimed by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
