Jacksonville Jaguars cut Mike Flacco from practice squad

The Jacksonville Jaguars cut tight end Mike Flacco from the team's practice squad Monday.

The brother of Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, Mike Flacco went undrafted this year after being selected as a third-team Division II All-American in his first season playing football at New Haven. He had spent time earlier this year with the San Diego Chargers, but he was cut in late August.

Last year marked the first time Flacco, 27, played football since he was in high school. He finished the season at New Haven with 30 catches for 591 yards and nine touchdowns in 10 games.

Flacco, 6 feet 5, 245 pounds, ended his baseball career last April and was placed on the voluntarily retired list by the Boston Red Sox. He had been traded to the Boston organization from the Orioles in March 2013. In 2009, he was a 31st-round draft selection by the Orioles, out of the Community College of Baltimore County-Catonsville.
