On the first day of free agency last year, the Ravens traded Haloti Ngata to the Detroit Lions for draft picks after the two sides couldn't reach an agreement on a revised contract.
On the first day of free agency this year, Ngata made sure his stay in Detroit will last a little longer.
The 32-year-old defensive tackle signed a two-year contract extension today with the Lions, according to his agent Mike McCartney. Ngata had a relatively quiet first season with the Lions but came on late, finishing the season with 15 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks in 14 games played.
Ngata played the first nine years of his career with the Ravens and will likely be inducted into the team's "Ring of Honor" when his career is over.
