Five Ravens sit out of Wednesday's practice

With 11 days between now and their first playoff game Jan. 15 at M&T Bank Stadium, five Ravens sat out Wednesday's practice, which had a training camp-like atmosphere in the portion of practice open to media.

After the team opened with special teams drills, players did individual drills with their position groups. Coach John Harbaugh said Monday that the team would use Wednesday and Thursday to "develop our guys."

Inside linebackers Ray Lewis (toe) and Jameel McClain (knee), guards Ben Grubbs (toe) and Marshal Yanda (ribs/thigh) and defensive tackle Haloti Ngata (thigh) were not spotted at practice. Inside linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo (quad) was on the field wearing a baseball cap, but left the field 10 or 15 minutes into practice.

Linebacker Dannell Ellerbe, cornerbacks Jimmy Smith and Cary Williams, and safety Tom Zbikowski, who had all sustained concussions in the final two weeks of the regular season, were on the practice field Wednesday.

With no opponent to play this weekend, the Ravens do not have to release an official injury report this week.
