Ex-Ravens Duane Starks, Donte Stallworth to participate in NFL sports journalism boot camp

Former Ravens cornerback Duane Starks and former Ravens wide receiver Donte' Stallworth will articipate in an NFL sports journalism and communications boot camp in May, according to an NFL press release.

Starks and Stallworth are among a group of 23 players scheduled to take part in the four-day program May 12 to May 15 at Bowling Green University.

The program is designed to upgrade players' opportunities for post-football careers and includes panel discussions, breakout sessions and writing labs with industry professionals and Bowling Green faculty, including topics on press conferences and ethics.

The group will attend a Toledo Mud Hens minor league baseball game and then interview Mud Hens executives and write columns.

Panelists include Peter King of Sports Illustrated, NFL.com writer Bucky Brooks, a former NFL scout and player, and former NFL defensive back Solomon Wilcots of CBS Sports.

"Our career development resources aim to prepare players for life after football," said Kimberly Fields, NFL player engagement vice president, said in a statement. "The Sports Journalism & Communications Boot Camp assists players in honing the skills and building the relationships necessary to carry their sports knowledge into a new career."

The NFL held a similar boot camp that focused on entrepreneurial skills in Baltimore in February.
