Outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil, cornerback Jerraud Powers and rookie running back Kenneth Dixon did not practice for the second consecutive day.
The absences of Dumervil and Dixon from Thursday's session were expected. Dumervil announced Wednesday that a setback related to his foot surgery in the offseason will prevent him from playing in Sunday's season opener against the Buffalo Bills at 1 p.m., at M&T Bank Stadium. Dixon, who strained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee in the second quarter of a 30-9 victory over the Detroit Lions on Aug. 27, is on crutches and is expected to miss another couple weeks.
Powers is dealing with an ankle ailmant and is inching closer to joining Dumervil and Dixon on the sideline.
Four players who practiced fully Wednesday despite being listed on the team's injury report – tight ends Dennis Pitta (broken finger) and Maxx Williams (knee), left guard John Urschel (shoulder) and cornerback Shareece Wright (foot) – practiced fully again Thursday.
The Bills listed five reserves on their injury report for the second straight day. Backup cornerback Kevon Seymour (hamstring) did not participate, while backup right guard Ryan Groy (ribs) was limited.
