Elvis Dumervil named AFC Defensive Player of Week

Ravens strong-side linebacker Elvis Dumervil continues to bring in accolades.

Dumervil, who became the Ravens' all-time single-season sack leader with his 3 1/2-sack performance in Sunday's victory over the Miami Dolphins, has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

It's the third time in his career that Dumervil has won the award.

Dumervil has 16 sacks, tying him with the Kansas City Chiefs' Justin Houston for the league league. Peter Boulware had held the Ravens' single-season sacks record with 15, set in 2001.

Dumervil's career high for sacks in a season is 17, which he accomplished in 2009 with the Denver Broncos. With 12 1/2 sacks in his past games, he's on pace to eclipse that mark.
