Veteran free agent Darian Stewart has joined the Denver Broncos on a two-year contract.
The former Ravens safety had visited the Broncos and Atlanta Falcons. He had also drawn interest from the New York Giants and other teams, per sources.
Stewart was the Ravens' starting strong safety last season, finishing the season with 53 tackles, one forced fumble and an interception. He began the season as the starting free safety before shifting to strong safety when Will Hill returned from a six-game NFL suspension.
In the playoffs, Stewart had three tackles, one interception, two pass deflections and a fumble recovery.
He was temporarily benched and replaced by Jeromy Miles after a rough game against the New Orleans Saints.
After rejoining the starting lineup, Stewart had arguably his top game of the season during the Ravens' 30-17 AFC wild-card playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field.
Stewart intercepted Ben Roethlisberger in the end zone in the fourth quarter, picking off a pass intended for wide receiver Antonio Brown.
Against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Stewart blocked a punt that Kamar Aiken returned for a touchdown. Stewart also intercepted a pass against the Houston Texans.
He signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Ravens last spring.
