Dannell Ellerbe active; Pollard, Bobbie Williams, McClellan scratched

Ravens starting inside linebacker Dannell Ellerbe is active for today's game against the New York Giants after missing the previous three games with a sprained right ankle.

Ellerbe's return could provide a spark for a defense that has been vulnerable to the run inside.

Meanwhile, starting strong safety Bernard Pollard is out for the second game in a row with damaged ribs.

He aggravated the injury against the Washington Redskins and wasn't expected to play this week since he was doubtful on the injury report.

Meanwhile, Pro Bowl offensive guard Marshal Yanda (sprained right ankle) returns after being out last week during a loss to the Denver Broncos.

And both wide receiver Torrey Smith and running back Bernard Pierce passed their baseline neurological tests after concussions and are active today.

Outside linebacker Albert McClellan (hamstring, shoulder) was scratched as well as offensive guard Bobbie Williams, offensive guard Ramon Harewood, wide receiver Deonte Thompson and defensive tackle Bryan Hall.

Paul Kruger is expected to start at outside linebacker and James Ihedigbo is expected to start at strong safety.

The Giants deactivated starting defensive end Justin Tuck and will start Osi Umenyiora in his place.

They also scratched wide receiver Ramses Barden, safety Kenny Phillips, safety Tyler Sash, tight end Travis Beckum, defensive end Adewale Ojomo and tight end Adrien Robinson.
