Report: Bills have talked about Ray Rice

In early August, Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan said he liked his team's running back depth — "we have a loaded backfield," he was quoted as saying in various reports.

But that was more than a week ago, before starting running back LeSean McCoy limped off the field Tuesday with a hamstring injury. McCoy is the fifth Bills running back to be injured this training camp.

Fox Sports reported Tuesday morning that the team has had "internal discussions" about former Ravens running back Ray Rice. The Buffalo News later reporter there was "zero chance" the Bills would sign Rice.

McCoy joined Fred Jackson (hamstring), Bryce Brown (hamstring), Boobie Dixon (calf) and Karlos Williams (undisclosed, but had a medical procedure Tuesday) on the sidelines.

Undrafted rookies Bronson Hill and Ricky Seale are on the roster, with Seale a recent signing.

Ryan was the Ravens' defensive coordinator early in Rice's career in Baltimore.

Rice did not play in the NFL in 2014 after a video surfaced that showed him hitting his then-fiancee in an Atlantic City casino elevator in February 2014.
