Paul Kruger parlayed a nine-sack season during the Ravens' run to the Super Bowl in 2012 into a five-year, $40.5 million free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns that offseason.

But three seasons later, the veteran pass rusher is looking for work.

The Browns terminated the contract of the 30-year-old outside linebacker Monday in their efforts to get down to the 75-man roster limit.

Kruger, a Ravens' second-round pick in 2009, had 18 sacks and six forced fumbles in three seasons with the Browns.

The Ravens made their first round of roster cuts Monday morning and also put veterans Kyle Arrington and Benjamin Watson on injured reserve.

On his Twitter account, Kruger thanked Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and the Cleveland fans, and called his experience with the team "amazing."

However, he also wrote that his release was "mishandled, unfortunate and absolutely the wrong decision."

Other ex-Ravens to be cut the past couple of days include wide receiver Chris Givens by the Philadelphia Eagles and tight end Konrad Reuland by the Indianapolis Colts.
