The Buffalo Bills have signed wide receiver Deonte Thompson to their active roster off the Ravens' practice squad, according to sources.
Thompson caught three touchdown passes during the preseason and 10 passes for 96 yards last season.
He ran track and played football at the University of Florida and was arguably the fastest players on the Ravens with 4.21-second speed in the 40-yard dash.
The Ravens were paying Thompson more than double the usual rate for a weekly practice squad salary as an incentive to keep him.
Thompson was being paid $17,000 per week for a season rate of $289,000, well above the usual rate of $6,300 per week and $107,100 for the year,
He was on the 53-man active roster earlier this year.
