The Ravens lost an assistant coach Tuesday when offensive quality control assistant Jay Harbaugh joined his father on the University of Michigan coaching staff as tight ends coach, according to a Wolverine247 report.
Jay Harbaugh, 25, is already listed in the University of Michigan online directory. Michigan athletic department officials didn't immediately return telephone calls seeking comment.
Jay Harbaugh spent the past three seasons working for the Ravens and his uncle, John Harbaugh.
Jay Harbaugh attended Oregon State, where he was an undergraduate assistant before joining the Ravens in 2012. For the Ravens, Jay Harbaugh provided statistical analysis, self-scouting reports and breakdowns of opposing defenses.
Jay Harbaugh joins his father on the Michigan coaching staff, where his grandfather, Jack Harbaugh, was once an assistant coach for the late Bo Schembechler.
Jim Harbaugh was a standout quarterback at Michigan and was hired after parting ways with the San Francisco 49ers, whom he coached to three NFC championship games and a Super Bowl XLVII loss to the Ravens.
