Ravens' Arthur Jones gets sack in first game back from illness

"It's a blessing," Jones said. "Two weeks ago, I didn't think I was going to be on this earth, and here I am, back on the field performing again. You just don't take nothing in life for granted."

Once Jones' heart was back to normal, the Ravens got him back into an exercise and practice regimen.

It was primarily a question of conditioning more than anything else on whether Jones would have a major role Sunday.

"Well, we had heard that his heart was functioning at 100 percent again," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "It was just a matter of whether he was going to be in shape to play. So, we had to go through the week to see how he would handle practice and whether his cardiovascular strength was up, because he couldn't do any kind of exercise while he was out. He proved that during practice, so we decided Friday that he would be OK to go. We put him up and he played well."

Jones wound up playing 52 percent of the defensive snaps -- 33 plays -- on Sunday, according to NFL statistics. He finished with three tackles.

"I felt great," Jones said. "My cardio was a little suspect with it being two weeks, but it's all good. We got the win, that's the most important part, and we're just going to come back stronger next week."
