Tie Fest honoring late fly-fisherman Lefty Kreh will be Feb. 23-24 in Linthicum

Lefty Kreh’s Tie Fest, in its 19th year, will again feature several seminars along with numerous local guides and fly shops providing advice on hot spots in the Mid-Atlantic Region and the best approaches to catch fish in those areas.

Tie Fest is scheduled for Feb. 23-24 at the BWI Marriott Hotel, 1743 West Nursery Road, Linthicum.

The event, named after the world-renowned Baltimore fly-fisherman who died in March at age 93, will run from 10 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2:30p.m. Sunday.

Admission will be $10 for each of the two days or $15 for both days. Anglers 16 and under and active military personnel will be admitted free.

“We have drawn some of the top fly fishing luminaries in the region this year— all ready to provide advice anglers won’t be able to find elsewhere,” event director Tony Friedrich said.

There will be both free and for-pay seminars. The event also will have displays from numerous fly shops in the Chesapeake Bay area, local fishing guides and angling organizations. Shops include Tochterman’s, District Angling, Great Feathers and Beaver Creek. Attendees will be able to purchase supplies and discuss fishing strategies with these vendors.
