If you had said the Orioles would win three of four against the Nationals before the series I would have gladly taken it. So after a 4-0 loss Thursday night you can't be too upset. Especially when Max Scherzer was on the mound and in command for Washington.

Of course, it hurts a bit because Toronto and Boston both lost and the Orioles could have moved into a three-way tie for the division lead.

Ubaldo Jimenez pitched great keeping the Orioles in the game until the bullpen struggled in the eighth. He's had a history of success against the Nationals and especially in their stadium sporting a 4-0 record with a 0.94 ERA entering the game. But you had to be pleased with what you saw from Jimenez, especially if he's going to take Chris Tillman's spot in the rotation.

Now it's on to New York for a three-game series against the rejuvenated Yankees.
