First pitch: Chris Tillman delivers first pitch to Tigers leadoff hitter Ian Kinsler at 5:39. It's a ball. Six pitches later, Kinsler strikes out swinging for first out of game. Tillman goes on to strike out side, getting Miguel Cabrera with a 96 mph fastball that elicits a huge roar as Orioles leave field.
First hit: Nick Markakis bounces single up the middle in bottom of first inning.
First hit by pitch: Max Scherzer hits No. 2 hitter Alejandro De Aza in the foot with a pitch.
First Orioles outs: Adam Jones swings at the very next pitch and bounces into double play.
First Orioles runs: Nelson Cruz swings at the very next pitch and hits a two-run homer into the right-center field bleachers.
Key Tigers at-bat: Kinsler works Tillman for 14-pitch at-bat in third inning before hitting broken-bat liner to third. Kinsler single-handedly hastened Tillman's exit from the game by making him throw 30 pitches in his first three at-bats.
First relief pitcher: Left-hander Andrew Miller comes on to replace Tillman, who lasted five innings and threw 105 pitches, and pitches scoreless sixth.
First blowout inning: The Orioles scored eight runs in the eighth inning to suck the suspense out of the room after Miller, Darren O'Day and Zach Britton carried a slim lead through the eighth.
Biggest out: Tillman retires Torii Hunter with the bases loaded to get out of the fifth inning with the Orioles’ slim 3-2 lead intact.
