The Orioles have been celebrating their 60th anniversary in Baltimore all season long with patches on the right sleeve of their game jerseys.
On Aug. 8, they’ll do one better.
The club announced Thursday plans to commemorate the Charm City anniversary with events surrounding their 7:05 p.m. game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Twenty-three Orioles Hall of Famers will take part in a postgame celebration that will include fireworks, a laser show, and highlights displayed on video boards on the side of the B&O; Warehouse.
Cal Ripken, Jr., Eddie Murray, Brooks Robinson and Frank Robinson are among those expected to attend.
That night, the Orioles will don 1954 replica throwback uniforms that will later be auctioned online to support the Baltimore Orioles Charitable Foundation. Before the game, the club will recognize season-ticket holders who have been with the club since the 1954 season.
Besides the commemorative patch that has been stitched onto each player’s uniform, the Orioles also have celebrated their 60th anniversary in Baltimore with several giveaways, including a 1954 replica cap on June 29.
The first 20,000 fans 15 and older will a receive 60th anniversary T-shirt on Aug. 1 and a "Wild Bill" Cowboy Hat on Aug. 9.
