Orioles notes on Dylan Bundy, Steve Johnson and Jair Jurrjens

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — This afternoon, the Orioles will try to avoid being swept by the Rays for the second time in the past month.

They've lost the first two games of the series here at Tropicana Field, scoring just one run and managing only six hits.

Right-hander Chris Tillman, who has not allowed more than three runs in any of his past 10 road starts, will start for the Orioles. Left-hander Matt Moore, who is 4-2 with a 2.34 ERA in seven career appearances against Baltimore, starts for the Rays.

Right-handed hitters Danny Valencia and Steve Pearce are in the starting lineup against the left-handed Moore, as is switch hitter Alexi Casilla.

Here's what's going on around the Orioles clubhouse:

-- Dylan Bundy, who hasn't thrown off a mound since last March, is still scheduled to begin his throwing program Monday in Sarasota. Bundy, the organization's top prospect, has been shut down for six weeks with forearm and elbow tightness. He will begin his progression by making 25 throws from 60 feet and work his way up from there.

-- The MRI conducted on right-hander Steve Johnson's left oblique showed a slight strain, which backed up the club's original diagnosis. That's good news for the Orioles.

--  Triple-A Norfolk right-hander Jair Jurrjens, who had an inflamed capsule joint in his right thumb, threw today and had no discomfort. He threw only fastballs, so he didn't test his breaking pitches.
