Orioles meet with Nick Swisher's representatives

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Orioles met with the representatives of free-agent outfielder/first baseman Nick Swisher tonight, an industry source has confirmed.

Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette said earlier today that he spoke with six player agents today.

Among those were the representatives of Swisher, outfielder Nate Schierholtz and pitcher Kevin Correia.

The team also met with the representatives to former Orioles Nate McLouth and Joe Saunders for the first time here at the Winter Meetings.

The Orioles' meeting with Swisher's reps was first reported by

The 32-year-old Swisher could fit well into the Orioles plans because he could contribute in left field, first base and designated hitter, all areas of need for the O's.

The free-agent market on outfielders is becoming more clear after the Red Sox signed Shane Victorino (3 years, $39 million) and the Giants inked Angel Pagan (4 years, $40 million), so the question is whether the Orioles would be willing to dedicate the years and dollars that Swisher will likely command.

Swisher's representatives met with four teams today and two managers, Yahoo! Sports reported.
