- Brian Matusz might not realize the Philadelphia Phillies are the National League's best team.

For the second consecutive Grapefruit League outing, Matusz baffled the NL champions, this time no-hitting them through 5 1/3 innings in the Orioles' 2-0 win.

Relievers Will Ohman and Jim Johnson kept the no-hit bid going until the bottom of the eighth, when John Mayberry Jr. singled off Dennis Sarfate with one out.

Matusz allowed two walks and struck out six Friday night, lowering his spring ERA to 2.51.

"A lot of good, positive pitches," Matusz said. "I was really happy about it."

Said Orioles manager Dave Trembley: "He just has a feel for pitching, and he knows what he is doing."

On Sunday, Matusz limited the Phillies to three hits and one run in five innings.

It was a scoreless tie heading into the fifth before the Orioles (6-10) scored twice on productive outs against Philadelphia starter Kyle Kendrick. Jeff Salazar had a RBI groundout, and Robert Andino added a sacrifice fly.

On deck The Orioles have two games today, with part of the squad playing the Pittsburgh Pirates at home in Sarasota, Fla., and the other group heading to Fort Myers to play the Boston Red Sox. Brad Bergesen will start against Pittsburgh's Charlie Morton, and Chris Tillman will face Boston's Tim Wakefield. Jake Arrieta is also scheduled to pitch in Fort Myers.
