- The weather has turned sour again in South Florida, and a heavy rainstorm wiped out Friday's exhibition game between the Orioles and Florida Marlins at Ed Smith Stadium.

Right-hander Jeremy Guthrie, who was scheduled to face left-hander Andrew Miller in the afternoon game, will move back to start today's game against the New York Yankees at Tampa's Legends Field.

To make up some of the lost innings, the Orioles and Marlins will play a "B" game this morning, with Mark Hendrickson starting against Sean West at the Ed Smith complex.

"It does cause you to get the eraser out on the pencil," Orioles manager Dave Trembley said.

The move from Fort Lauderdale to Sarasota has made it easier to adjust when the weather intervenes.

"The minor league guys start playing games on the 17th, and the Double-A and Triple-A teams will be in the minor league clubhouse" today, Trembley said. "That's kind of convenient."

Roberts backed up again Brian Roberts was examined Friday by team orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens and placed on new anti-inflammatory medication, but he'll need at least a couple of more days for the medication to take effect before resuming his rehabilitation program.

"We'll wait a few more days until he's on the medication," Trembley said, "and we'll see where he's at."

Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail said Friday that the club still projects Roberts as the starter at second base on Opening Day but he isn't taking that for granted.

"You still have to start looking at options if he's not," MacPhail said.

Reimold improvingTrembley said Nolan Reimold, who started in the leadoff spot Thursday night against the Twins, would not make the trip to Tampa. He'll stay behind and play in the "B" game.

Reimold had only one opportunity to run to first base in Thursday's game, but he looked like he's more comfortable.

"He ran better," Trembley said. "Perhaps the orthotics [molded shoe inserts] are helping there. He did run better."

Around the hornThe Orioles still have not made their first roster cuts of the spring, and Trembley was noncommittal when asked when the first cutdown will come. It's possible that some cuts would have been made this weekend if the Orioles didn't need a lot of players to fill the "B" lineups today and Sunday.
