Orioles on deck: What to watch Saturday vs. Twins, plus lineups, broadcast info and more

Orioles (1-0) vs. Twins (0-1)

Where: Camden Yards

First pitch: 7:05 p.m.

TV/Radio: MASN2/105.7 The Fan

Starting pitchers: Orioles RHP Andrew Cashner (11-11, 3.40 ERA in 2017) vs. Twins RHP Kyle Gibson (12-10, 5.07 ERA in 2017)

What to watch

1. Big debut. Before the signing of Alex Cobb, Andrew Cashner was the Orioles’ big offseason acquisition. The right-hander could be a significant piece for the club if he keeps the ball on the ground and replicates the success he had in his one season in Texas. He showed good stuff in the spring and fans will be hoping for more of the same Saturday.

2. Bullpen watch. Eyes should already be on the Orioles bullpen after Brad Brach blew a save on Opening Day. Will Buck Showalter go right back to him in a save situation or will Darren O’Day or Mychal Givens get a look? It’s possible Brach is already back to setup duty after a rough first appearance.

3. Schoop response. Jonathan Schoop had an awful opener at the plate, going 0-for-5 with two strikeouts and five men left on base. He had a terrific spring and is coming off a breakout season. It will be worth watching to see if it’s the start of a slump or just one bad game.
