What to watch

1. Back to normal. Table-setter Trey Mancini looked on the way to getting back to normal Thursday, when he went 2-for-5 with an RBI double in a loss to the Rays. Those were his first hits in three games back from the injured knee that sidelined him for two games and most of a third. Can he set the tone to help the Orioles emerge from their funk?

2. Will the nightmare end, part 1. The Orioles keep digging a bigger hole for themselves with five straight losses and 11 in 12 games. They're a daunting 13½ games out of first place and 13 games under .500. If they were to play the entire season at this clip, they'd go 39-123. Yikes.

3. Will the nightmare end, part 2. Chris Tillman's season has been even worse than his awful 2017, but he is coming off his best start of the year — four earned runs in six innings in a loss to the Indians. Tillman isn't planning to reinvent himself, and perhaps Friday's start will provide an indication of whether he's going in the right direction.
