UMBC men's basketball coach Ryan Odom gets to show off his arm tonight before Orioles game

The hits just keep on coming for coach Ryan Odom and the UMBC men's basketball team. In this case, though, we're talking about pitches, and not the kind Odom usually makes to Retriever recruits.
Odom will be delivering the ceremonial first pitch before tonight's Orioles-Cleveland Indians game at Camden Yards. The game is set to begin at 7:05, so Odom's first pitch will come in the half-hour leading up to the game.
Since UMBC upset the No. 1 seed in the NCAA men's basketball tournament on March 16, the Retrievers have been feted at Government House by Gov. Larry Hogan and on the floor of the General Assembly. The school held a celebration on campus and nearly everyone in the nation now knows the Retrievers thanks to the school's use of social media.
There is no indication from Odom's bio that he ever played baseball. He played college basketball at Hampden-Sydney before starting his coaching career. As a coach, Odom has always been extremely prepared . He clearly doesn't want to look ill-prepared tonight so he's been practicing.
Maybe Odom will provide a little luck as the Orioles try to snap a six-game losing streak when they begin a 10-game homestand tonight.
