Orioles (9-27) vs. Royals (12-24)

Where: Camden Yards

First pitch: 7:05 p.m.

TV/Radio: MASN/105.7 The Fan

Starting pitchers: Orioles RHP Chris Tillman (1-5, 9.24 ERA) vs. Royals RHP Ian Kennedy (1-3, 2.92 ERA)

What to watch

1. Back-to-back? The Orioles have won consecutive games only once this season, when they won two straight from April 5-6 at Yankee Stadium. They have a chance to do it again Thursday as they seek just their third series win of the season.

2. The biggest roadblock. If the Orioles want to take two of three from the Royals, Chris Tillman can’t have a repeat of his last start, when he allowed seven runs on seven hits and a walk in one inning. He had seemed to be on the way up with one hit allowed in seven scoreless innings April 27. If he can recapture that to bounce back from his May 3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels, he’ll give the Orioles a chance.

3. Davis heating. Chris Davis has hit home runs each of the past two games, leaving the yard in consecutive games for the first time since August. He’s still batting only .176 with four homers and a .563 OPS, but his power stroke appears to be coming — and the Orioles could use it.
