Starting pitchers: Orioles RHP Dylan Bundy (1-4, 3.76 ERA) vs. Royals LHP Danny Duffy (0-4, 5.63 ERA)

The Orioles are tied for the worst record in major league baseball. Here are some reasons they have started the season so slowly.

What to watch

1. Schoop's back. Jonathan Schoop gives the healing Orioles lineup a much-needed influx with his return from a strained oblique. It'd be smart to temper expectations after he went 2-for-13 on his rehabilitation assignment and was batting just .230/.266/.344 with the Orioles before the injury. But if he can recapture his 2017 form, Schoop will dramatically improve the Orioles batting order.

2. Bundy. Dylan Bundy looked like an emerging ace for much of the first month of the season, posting a 1.42 ERA through five starts. But he has been awful over his two starts since, allowing 15 runs (12 earned) on 18 hits in nine innings for a 12.00 ERA. Will early-April Bundy make a return Tuesday against the Royals, who are 6-3 since a 5-20 start?

3. Off the mat. Amid the Orioles' dreadful start, they have remained a better home team than road team, going 5-10 in Baltimore and 3-16 everywhere else coming off an 0-6 road trip. The Orioles have to hope being back in the comforts of Camden Yards will help them get going in the right direction after 18 losses in 21 games.
