Starting pitchers: Orioles RHP Andrew Cashner (2-5, 4.72 ERA) vs. Rays RHP Ryne Stanek (0-0, 5.40 ERA)

On the six-year anniversary of Adam Jones' contract extension that kept him off the free-agent market and in Baltimore through his prime, he and the club reflect on what made the last such deal they signed worthwhile and why others haven't had the same opportunity.

What to watch

1. Blooming in May. In 20 games since his season average sunk to .230 on May 2, Adam Jones is hitting .354 with a .969 OPS, and the Orioles are 9-11 during that time. In an even smaller sample size, the Orioles are 9-7 in their past 16 games of Jones’ hot streak.

2. A chance to win. Andrew Cashner seems to be keeping the Orioles in the game almost every time out, with three earned runs or fewer in seven of 10 starts this season. He has allowed three or fewer and pitched at least into the fifth inning in each of his past four starts.

3. Another relief start. The Rays’ relief-starter experiment blew up in their faces when the Orioles scored off Sergio Romo in the first inning Friday. Will they do the same to reliever Ryne Stanek on Saturday?
