Starting pitchers: Orioles RHP Alex Cobb (2-13, 6.17 ERA) vs. Rays RHP Hunter Wood (0-0, 2.93 ERA)

What to watch

1. Cobb. Alex Cobb has alternated good starts and rough ones over the past month. And if that trend continues, he’ll be in line for a quality outing after allowing four runs in five innings against the Toronto Blue Jays five days ago.

2. Surprising upstart. The Rays were supposed to be the team in the Orioles’ position after selling off parts in the offseason. But they enter this series above .500 and on the fringes of the wild-card race, nine games out of playoff spot with only two teams ahead of them.

3. Jones. Adam Jones is heating up as he potentially nears the end of his time with the Orioles. Jones enters Thursday with a five-game hitting streak in which he’s hitting .368/.429/.474 with two doubles and five RBIs.
