Starting pitchers: Orioles RHP Kevin Gausman (10-9, 4.79 ERA) vs. Yankees RHP Sonny Gray (8-9, 3.36)

What to watch

1. String 'em together. Since Aug. 7, the Orioles' seven-game winning streak was the only instance in which they managed to win consecutive games. Outside of that, every win has been followed by a loss, and oftentimes vice versa. Can the Orioles make it two in a row and perhaps draw even with the Twins for the second wild card?

2. All zeroes. Kevin Gausman comes in to today's game having not allowed a run over his past two starts, stretching his scoreless streak to 13 2/3 innings. He has a 2.03 ERA over his past nine starts. See if he can keep posting zeroes against the Yankees.

3. Shades of Gray. The big pitching prize at this year's trade deadline, Sonny Gray takes the mound for his seventh start with the Yankees. He has looked pretty good in pinstripes, posting a 3.16 ERA in 37 innings so far, pitching at least six frames in all but one start. The right-hander has had some difficulty against the Orioles in his career — albeit in a limited sample size. In four starts, he's 1-3 with a 5.57 ERA. He hasn't faced the Orioles since 2015.
