What to watch
1. Seeking some padding. The Orioles moved past the Mariners in the wild-card race with Monday's win and tonight will be looking to add a cushion between the teams. They'll also be trying to gain on the Angels, the Orioles' next opponent and the current holders of the second wild card. The Orioles head into tonight two games out of a playoff spot with the Twins and Royals in between, each a half-game back. Stay up late to see if the Orioles can gain some ground.
2. Carrying the load. The Orioles are getting offensive contributions from everywhere, having scored in double figures twice in three games and three times in their past nine. Manny Machado is leading the production with 20 RBIs in his past 12 games after hitting his second grand slam this month in Monday's win. He had 17 RBIs in his previous 37 games.
3. Miley-Alberts. Tonight brings an interesting matchup to the mound with lefties Wade Miley and Andrew Albers going head to head. Miley has pitched three solid outings in a row, with his last one being one of his best this season — no earned runs (one unearned) on three hits in seven innings. Albers, 31, makes his first start for the Mariners after being acquired from the Braves three days ago. He has been on cruise control at Triple-A, going 6-0 with a 0.98 ERA over his past eight starts. He last pitched in the majors for the Twins in September.
