Orioles minor league report: DL Hall finishing strong at Delmarva

Triple-A Norfolk

Infielder Garabez Rosa, the reigning Eastern League MVP, enters the final weekend of the International League season batting .274 with a .687 OPS, 11 home runs and 22 doubles in 124 games for the Tides. Rosa, 28, had played 24 career games at Triple-A amid years spent largely at Bowie, but held his own at the higher level this year.

Double-A Bowie

First baseman Aderlin Rodriguez, 26, is finishing strong for the Baysox, with his 21 home runs tied for third in the Eastern League entering Saturday and his .282 average and .797 OPS ranked third among regulars in Bowie. This is Rodriguez’s third straight 20-homer season in the Orioles system, and second straight with Bowie.

High-A Frederick

In his final start of the season Thursday, right-hander Michael Baumann pitched seven innings of two-hit scoreless ball with five strikeouts and one walk to drag his ERA back below 4.00 to 3.88 after a rough August inflated it. Baumann, 22, went 13-5 with a 3.17 ERA between Frederick and Low-A Delmarva in his full-season debut.

Low-A Delmarva

Left-hander DL Hall, 19, had the best second half of any pitcher in the Orioles system, and finished the year with an even 100 strikeouts in 94 1/3 innings after pitching five scoreless, two-hit innings Friday for the Shorebirds. Hall, the Orioles’ top draft pick in 2017, lowered his ERA to 2.10, and had a 0.84 ERA in 11 games (10 starts) after the All-Star break.

Short-A Aberdeen

Outfielder Robert Neustrom, 21, had 21 extra-base hits in 59 games for the IronBirds entering Saturday, putting the 2018 fifth-round pick at the top of the team’s leaderboard in that category. Neustrom, an Iowa product, entered the weekend batting .283/.325/.420, with his .745 OPS third among regulars for the IronBirds. First baseman J.C Escarra, 23, entered Saturday leading the team with a .337 average and a .947 OPS.
