Orioles minor league report: Steve Wilkerson returns from suspension

Triple-A Norfolk

Infielder Steve Wilkerson, 26, hit his first Triple-A home run Thursday in his sixth game since being activated from the 50-game drug suspension that kept him on the shelf since spring training. A candidate to grow into a utility role on the major league roster once he gets his form back, Wilkerson entered Saturday batting .259 with a .741 OPS for the Tides. He's played third base, second base, left field and right field so far.

Double-A Bowie

Outfielder Anthony Santander has quickly found his footing for the Baysox after his Rule 5 draft requirements expired on the major league roster last month, batting .293/.321/.467 with five doubles, a triple and a pair of home runs in his first 19 games in the Eastern League. Santander, 23, hit .198 with a .547 OPS in the majors this season, and is getting his first full taste of Double-A other than a rehabilitation stint in July and August before his big league debut.

High-A Frederick

Right-hander Michael Baumann, who began the season at Low-A Delmarva, has continued to dominate in the Carolina League. In his fourth High-A start Thursday, Baumann, 22, allowed two earned runs for the first time in the league in a win over Potomac where he allowed three hits and issued two walks with five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. Baumann has a 1.60 ERA over both levels in with 62 strikeouts in 62 innings and a 0.98 WHIP.

Low-A Delmarva

Despite just a .250 average entering Saturday, first baseman Seamus Curran, 20, earned a spot in the South Atlantic League All-Star Game by virtue of his 11 home runs, which ranked fourth in the league entering Friday's doubleheader. Curran, an eighth-round draft pick in 2015, missed most of 2017 with a knee injury but has rebounded nicely. He batted .250/.315/.474 with 22 extra-base hits in 53 games. Outfielder Zach Jarrett and infielder Trevor Craport are also taking part in the All-Star Game.
